Finding a reliable compact SUV can be challenging, especially when you have so many models to consider. Car shoppers love compact SUVs for their drive quality, spacious cabins, and fuel-efficiency, and two of the most popular SUVs in this class are the 2021 Mazda CX-30 and the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek.

We recently pitted these two models against one another to see which one comes out on top.

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 is powered by an available 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 186 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. Combined with an available turbocharger and all-wheel-drive system, this new Mazda is one of the most powerful SUVs on the road today. All of this and more will make your commute that much more convenient as you traverse roads and highways with authority.

On the other hand, the Subaru Crosstrek can only muster 152 horsepower and 145 lb.-ft. of torque with its 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor.

Overall Style

The 2021 Mazda CX-30 was built with innovation in mind. When designers were working on the exterior, they looked at how light and shadow affect the curves of the car. Inspired by movement, designers made the 2021 Mazda CX-30 elegant both inside and out, as evidenced by its premium leather seats and sleek exterior design.

On the flip side, the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek’s exterior design is lacking at best. Its color palette is uninspiring and the available materials feel somewhat cheap.
